Sometimes I think that the most effective way to combat Islamic terrorism is to infuse the middle east with American materialism. We could fill them up with MTV, fast food, movies, video games, casinos, satellite television and high speed internet in every home, etc... After entertaining themselves to death their extreme religious convictions would stand no chance! You may say: that wouldn't work. Well, if materialism can take over American Christianity it could certainly work in the middle east. Just a thought. (of course, I am joking...but only a little)
